“In fashion, this question celebrates identity, creativity, and influence. For survivors of sexual assault, it’s used to blame them for the violence that happened to them. In one context this question is empowering, on the other, it takes away survivors’ agency. On September 11th, 2023, survivors and allies stepped out on the world stage to take back their power as part of the third annual NYFW Rise Survivor Fashion Show. The 2023 show will spotlight survivors’ rights and celebrate all who advocate for survivors worldwide. Together, we can reclaim this sentence — and our power.” ~ Rise
